Opportunities to Make a Difference
@ Stony Brook Children’s Hospital
At Stony Brook Children’s, we work on the promise that children come first. Your gift, no matter the amount, can help us do just that. Your support will contribute to the innovative team approaches of our pediatric medical experts in the most advanced academic medical setting for kids and families in need of compassionate care on Long Island. Please consider making a gift today.
Suffolk County’s children have a high incidence of chronic childhood illnesses that require a full continuum of specialty care. And before Stony Brook Children's opened, thousands of those children had to seek advanced medical care far from the comfortable familiarity of their homes, family and friends. And research shows that the more a child's family is involved with their care, the better the outcomes. But we can't do it alone. Your support means we can continue to meet the growing demand in our pediatric emergency department and for the best ideas in medicine for kids.
Our Child Life Program helps reduce the stress that pediatric patients and their families may experience when faced with illness, medical procedures and unfamiliar surroundings. Certified Child Life Specialists interact with patients to provide therapeutic, educational and recreational activities that meet their unique emotional and developmental needs.
Your gift helps us ensure our pediatric patients have the latest games, toys, and activities . If you are interested in making a monetary gift today to support the kids in our

Medicine never stands still. And the place where it progresses fastest is at an academic medical center.
As part of an academic medical center, Stony Brook Children's not only provides the latest in pediatric care, it also advances the practice of pediatric medicine. Our pioneering research — carried out in world-class research facilities under the direction of expert faculty — includes drug and device development, genetic studies, and extensive access to clinical trials, including international multi-site studies.
We are the only continuously NIH-funded pediatric and obstetric site providing HIV/AIDS clinical trials in Suffolk County since 1992. We also carry out groundbreaking studies on the best treatments for children with kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, and inborn errors of metabolism, as well as studies on the development of literacy. And our neonatologists have an extensive research program devoted to understanding fetal lung development.

Support from you and the community is imperative in the level of care we are able to provide to our pediatric patients. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to accept in-kind used or new items of any kind (i.e., toys, homemade blankets, handmade cards) to help reduce the risk of disease spread. However, we kindly ask that you consider this wish list from the caring staff in Child Life.
Stony Brook Children’s Hospital is fortunate to have the support of our community in promoting wellness and in raising much-needed funds for clinical care and medical research. We welcome interest by individuals, companies, foundations and other organizations who would like to raise funds to benefit Stony Brook Children’s. Such activities, when consistent with our mission, objectives and brand, are pivotal means for growing community awareness and raising much-needed resources to assist in our clinical, research and teaching mission.
