If you have never registered to vote before in New York, or if you need to update your voter information in New York:
- Register to Vote BY MAIL - Received by local board of elections no later than October 24, 2026
- Register to Vote IN PERSON - Received by local board of elections no later than October 24, 2026
- Change of Address - Notices of change of address from registered voters must be received at least 15 days before a special, primary or general election in order to ensure that it will be processed by a county board of elections
If you have registered to vote in New York and want to participate in early mail ballot or absentee voting:
- Request Absentee Ballot BY MAIL, FAX OR ONLINE PORTAL- Received by local board of elections no later than October 24, 2026
- Request Absentee Ballot IN PERSON - Received by local board of elections no later than November 2, 2026
- Submit Absentee Ballot BY MAIL - Postmarked to local board of elections no later than November 3, 2026. Must be received by local board of elections no later than November 10, 2026
- Submit Absentee Ballot IN PERSON - Received by local board of elections or your polling site no later than November 3, 2026; ballots can also be brought to an early voting polling site in your county between October 24, 2026 and November 1, 2026
Early Voting for the 2025 General Election in New York will be from October 24, 2026 to November 1, 2026.
