INSTITUTIONALIZED VOTER REGISTRATION
About
The Center for Civic Justice is nationally recognized for its institutionalized voter registration efforts. We hope to civically engage students throughout the academic year through events, tabling efforts, and other activities. Learn more about our intiatives below!
Initiatives
The Center for Civic Justice provides resources and opportunities for students to
register to vote, fill out an absentee ballot request form, check their voter status
and more prior to an election. On Election Day, tabling activities are hosted for
students to engage with before and after voting at the polls including games, raffles,
giveaways, and more! Interns at the Center dress up in an Uncle Sam costume in order to generate excitement for students for the election.
Primary Elections in New York State often fall after the Spring semester, the Center
for Civic Justice works to educate the student population on the importance of primary
elections. Tabling and events are hosted throughout the semester to provide students
resources and information regarding upcoming elections such as the NYS Primaries.
The Center for Civic Justice holds tabling events and drives for students that would
like to request an absentee ballot. We engage with students in events that include
raffles, games and mock elections, and so much more to get our Seawolves excited about
voting. These drives also provide students with information about how and when to
send their ballots.
Orientation is an important event for the Center for Civic Justice to provide resources
to incoming Seawolves to register to vote. It is important for incoming freshman to
register to vote with the Center because many will be living on campus. The Center
provides resources to register for on-campus students, off-campus students, and students
wishing to vote at home through absentee voting.
