Medicinal Chemistry
Medicinal Chemistry at Stony Brook is a highly interdisciplinary research area that spans several departments including those in the hospital. Cutting edge research on campus utilizes a combination of synthetic chemistry, computational biology and translational efforts to advance pharmacophores in a number of critical areas including cancer, amyloid and infectious diseases. These research areas are supported by many cross campus initiatives including the Institute of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/icbdd//), a “center of excellence” dedicated to bridging fundamental and translational research efforts across east and west campus.
