CFNS Group Completes pfRICH Vessel for the EIC

We are pleased to announce that the team at Stony Brook University has successfully completed the construction of the proximity-focusing Ring Imaging Cherenkov (pfRICH) vessel for the ePIC experiment, which will operate at Brookhaven National Laboratory's upcoming accelerator, the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) .

The finished vessel is the result of a year-long project, made possible through the dedication and hard work of CFNS Postdoc Charles-Joseph Naïm, graduate students Julian Driebeek (MSI '24), James Shirk, and Brynna Moran, and undergraduate students Emmett Gebb, Saanvi Madishetty, and Mahmodol Mojumder. Their work not only demonstrates technical excellence but also highlights the strength of student-led research and training at Stony Brook.

The pfRICH will be a key part of the ePIC experiment's high-precision particle identification, which is crucial to the success of the EIC physics program, enabling important measurements in Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS).
