ART Tank 2026

First, there was Shark Tank. Then there was Wolfie Tank. Now there's ART Tank!
This competition among Stony Brook students encourages students to put their skills, mediums and vision to work on designs that can be anything from multimedia in format, to a mural, sculpture, landscape design or any other creative impulse you have that can help us engage people’s senses of sight or even hearing, smell or touch. Like Shark and Wolfie Tank, we’ll invite selected participants to show off their skills to a panel of professional judges (to be named soon). In turn, these students will be given a $1,500 stipend, gain valuable feedback and get a feel for how to present their pieces to the outside world. The winner will then collaborate with the CBC to create and display their art as a lasting legacy on campus.

Save the Date! The third annual ART Tank competition will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 5:30pm at the Wang Center!

2025 Judges

Jason Paradis

Jason Paradis is an artist and curator from Canada who now lives and works in the New York area. In his work, there is a sense of contemplation or of reverie that speculates on fundamental mysteries – this being the result of a lot of camping under an expansive sky in the northern Canadian wilderness. His work has been displayed in several exhibitions in and around New York City as well as across the United States and Canada. Recent exhibitions have been at the Saratoga Art Center, the Ann Street Gallery in Newburgh, and OMNI Gallery in New York. Solo shows have been at Twist, etc and Seed Space in Nashville, St. Joseph’s College, and Modern Fuel in Kingston, Ontario Canada. He regularly curates for the Carriage House at the Islip Art Museum.

Judith Brown Clarke

Judi is the Vice President for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer for Stony Brook University and Health System. Under her leadership, the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives (DI3) has the responsibility for developing and sustaining programs, policies and initiatives that serve to create a welcoming environment for all students, staff, faculty, clinicians and administrators. In her role, Judi also serves as Executive Sponsor of the Campus Beautification Committee.

Eric Murphy

Eric is the Assistant to the Director of Asian Art and Culture at the Charles B. Wang Center, where he combines his passion for art installation with managing cultural programs that engage both students and the wider Long Island community. He is a lifelong resident of the East End of Long Island where he has established himself as an active figure in the Long Island art community, working with notable institutions such as the Islip Art Museum and PAC/MOCA LI.

Norah Allam

Norah is a senior at Stony Brook University pursuing dual degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics & Statistics, with a minor in Studio Art. She serves as Vice President of the Biomedical Engineering Honor Society and mentors students through the WISE Honors Program. With plans to pursue graduate studies focused on Tissue Engineering, Norah balances her STEM interests with a passion for art, which has been her creative outlet. As a recipient of the URECA Virginia Fuller Award and other campus art distinctions, she was commissioned by the Campus Beautification Committee to create "Le Judicieux," a large-scale octopus mural at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences.
