Two Programs, Multiple Opportunities

Educational Leadership (EDL) 

This combined school district and school building leader post-master's certificate program prepares New York State certified  K-12 educators for two certifications that are necessary to pursue advancement into leadership positions such as:

  • Superintendent of Schools
  • District Superintendent
  • Assistant Superintendent
  • Principal
  • Assistant Principal
  • Department Chairperson
  • Athletic Director

EDL Program Details

School District Business Leader

This post-master's certificate program provides the necessary preparation to assume a position in a school district central office, such as assistant superintendent.

There are two tracks, depending on your certification status:

  • Business Track. Business professionals from the private or public sector who are not licensed educators will need 36-credits to qualify for the certification exam.
  • School Leader Accelerated Track. Currently licensed (SBL or SDL) New York State school leaders may be eligible to pursue a 15-credit course of study.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Strengthening Diversity in School Leadership

Faculty from the Educational Leadership program have received a NYSED grant to support a multipronged initiative designed to:

  • Create a pipeline for emerging school leaders via our Ed Leadership program
  • Foster new leadership skills for APs and teacher-leaders
  • Conduct and disseminate research on the effective strategies being used in the field
