development to cultural outings and festive gatherings, these events are designed
to enhance the student experience and create lasting memories. Join us for a year
full of exciting activities that will help you grow, connect, and thrive within the
Honors College community.
Leadership & Mentor Opportunities
Student Advisory Board
The Student Advisory Board is a dynamic group of Honors College students who play a vital role in shaping the Honors College experience. Working closely with staff, these student leaders organize events, foster community engagement, and serve as representatives of the student body. Board members are selected annually through a competitive application process. Current positions include: Co-Presidents, Head Community Events Coordinator, Head Social Media & Graphics Coordinator, and Secretary.
Serving on the Advisory Board offers students the chance to develop leadership skills,
collaborate on impactful projects, and leave a lasting legacy within the Honors College.
Big Sibling Program
The Big Sibling Program pairs first-year students with upperclassmen mentors to help ease the transition into college life. Through the program, first-year students gain valuable advice, support, and guidance, while upperclassmen have the chance to develop mentorship skills and build meaningful connections. Events and check-ins throughout the semester help foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
Clubs and Organizations
At Stony Brook University, students have access to over 400+ clubs and organizations
across 11 different categories, offering countless ways to get involved, meet new

organizations, performing arts, sports, or special interests, there’s something for
everyone!
