The PhD in STEM education program admits students in alternate years. The next cohort
will be accepted for Fall 2028. Students are admitted through the Graduate School.
Application Requirements
- An online application
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject
- Master’s degree in either a STEM field or in education with a GPA of at least 3.0
- Three letters of recommendation
- A statement of intent
- An interview and writing sample
Note: The GRE test is not required for the application.
How To Apply
All application materials are submitted online via The Graduate School’s application portal. You do not have to complete your application at one sitting. Deadline for applications are January 15 in the years that cohorts are accepted.
Official transcripts from all institutions attended (unofficial transcripts may be uploaded to your online application for early review. However, official transcripts must be sent to our institution for your matriculation into the program to be completed). Official e-transcripts sent directly from the Office of the Registrar at your institution should be sent to gradadmissions@stonybrook.edu.
