MD Ashraful Goni is a communication scholar, educator, and media innovator specializing in journalism, artificial intelligence, and intercultural communication. He holds a Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Texas Tech University and currently serves as an adjunct Lecturer at the School of Communication and Journalism, Stony Brook University.

Goni is the founder of Bangla AI, a culturally responsive GenAI tool designed for Bengali-speaking media professionals in the United States. His research focuses on how generative AI shape communication practices in immigrant and marginalized communities. He has contributed to multiple National Science Foundation–funded projects and received grants from institutions such as New York University and the Thomas Jay Harris Institute.
