Memorial Arch near the Humanities Building
You are invited to visit the Memorial Arch near the Humanities Building for quiet
contemplation and reflection. Place a flower amongst the grove of trees planted as
a way to celebrate the lives and grow the legacies of the 21 Stony Brook alumni who
perished in the attacks on 9/11, and whose names are engraved on the Memorial Arch.

The campus chimes will ring 21 times at 8:46 a.m. to remember the legacies of the 21 Stony Brook alumni who perished in the attacks on 9/11.
On the Academic Mall
On Friday, September 11 at 12:00 pm, join us between the SAC and the Library for the 9/11 Pinwheel Garden. This meaningful display honors and remembers the lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Participants will have the opportunity to plant a pinwheel in remembrance, creating a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and hope. The pinwheels will serve as a reminder of the importance of reflection and honoring those we lost.

As part of our campus-wide 9/11 Remembrance, we invite you to visit a dedicated viewing room throughout the day. This space will feature documentaries and video presentations that honor the lives lost, highlight stories of resilience, and provide opportunities for reflection, remembrance, and learning. All are welcome to pause, engage, and reflect in this quiet and meaningful setting.
