Susan Gasparo

Susan Gasparo is the Director for Research Security at Stony Brook University (SBU).  She has been with SBU since 2003 serving in research administration positions. In her current role, she oversees a group that is dedicated to assisting the campus community with compliance with export controls, conflict of interest/commitment, international activities, and research security regulations/laws/policies.  She also serves as the Deputy Research Integrity Officer. She holds certification in the area of export controls. 

She holds a Masters in Public Administration with a finance concentration (New York University) and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science (Stony Brook University).  She is the 2025/2026 Chair for the Association of University Export Control Officers' Board, having previously held other Board positions.  She has authored training modules in the areas of export controls and research security for the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program).
