WHAT DOES IT SUPPORT

Empire AI oversees a shared high performance computing facility to promote research and development, including the advancement of the ethical and public-interest uses of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) technologies in New York. We are soliciting proposals to use Empire AI compute resources.

This request for proposals is open to faculty and faculty-led research groups in select academic institutions as systems and campuses located in New York State. The application and internal prioritization process for Stony Brook University will be managed by the Office of Proposal of Development.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

We are following the Principal Investigator (PI) Eligibility Policy. Individuals with titles that require approval must receive approval from their Department Chair.

Additionally, projects must demonstrate the following:

  • Individuals must propose projects that are developed and ready to use Empire AI resources.
  • Individuals who have previously been PIs on an Empire AI project must ensure that they submit a project report about that project.

COMPUTE RESOURCES AVAILABLE

Empire AI details the compute resources, including hardware and capabilities. The resources are shared and scheduled using the Slurm batch system. Allocations will be made in service units (SUs) that can be expended upon any Empire AI computer resource.
