[Transverse Laser Modes]
Most laser cavities are designed to output a beam that is Gaussian in its transverse intensity profile, also called a transverse mode. Other modes, however, are possible, including ones mathematically described by Hermite-Gaussian, Laguerre-Gaussian, and Bessel functions. These beams are not just novelties; they are useful in a variety of applications, including optical tweezers.

[Strange Behavior in Fiberoptical Bundles]
This research is with the strange behavior of light incident on fiberoptical bundles, specifically when at an angle to the normal. This was first observed with coherent bundles, but I have shown it not to be limited to just this narrow range of situations.
