The Tentaro Inoh Collection Library is open on Tuesdays from 10 am to 3 pm at Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library N4065 during the semester. We recommend emailing Dr. Mary Diaz in advance of your visit.

In 2007, Stony Brook University opened the Tentaroh Inoh Collection in Japanese Studies,
which
was generously donated by the late Professor Tentaroh Inoh (1915-2003), a celebrated
historian
and collector of rare books. The impressive collection comprises approximately 70,000
volumes
on a diverse range of topics, including history, literature, philosophy, anthropology,
archeology, religion, and political science, as well as a wealth of reference books,
journals, and maps. The collection serves as a valuable resource for students and
scholars of Japanese studies, providing unique insights into Japan's rich cultural
heritage and intellectual traditions.Part of this collection
is placed in Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library N4065 as a special collection.
