Graduate School Day of Service: Saturday October 24, 2026
The Graduate School and the Center for Service Learning and Community Service (Career Center) are collaborating to create community service opportunities for Stony Brook University graduate students. We are excited to offer a day of service with a range of service projects for graduate students to participate in.
Kick-Off Breakfast | 12 pm | Student Activities Center Room 306
Join us before starting your service project for the day for bagels, coffee, and the opportunity to connect with other graduate students. Students will be directed to their project after the opening session.
Please note: The Hope House project in Port Jefferson will run from 10 am to 1 pm, students are welcomed to join us back on campus after the event for bagels in SAC Room 228.

Event: Long Island Veterans Home
Time: 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Location and Transportation: Stony Brook Bus to LI Veterans Home (Bus to Chapin then walk to Veterans Home)
Activity: Assist with Children's Halloween Party and running sand art, a craft table, and helping serve food.
Graduate School Day of Service: Long Island Veterans Home
Event: Big Brothers Big Sisters Long Island
Time: 1 pm to 3 pm
Location: On-Campus - Career Center Studio
Activity: Help facilitate pumpkin painting craft and team building activity with elementary
students.
Graduate School Day of Service: Big Brothers Big Sisters
Event: Parker Institute
Time: 1 pm to 3 pm
Location: On-Campus - Student Activities Center Room 228
Activity: Create activity kits to support the Parker Institute Halloween Event for nursing rehabilitation center residents.
Graduate School Day of Service: Parker Institute
Event: AMSEAS Beach Clean Up
Time: 2 pm to 4 pm
Location and Transportation: Bus to Cedar Beach
Activity: Training on how to monitor beaches for cold stunned sea turtles. (Please register for pre-training session held on October 20 at 7 pm.)
Graduate School Day of Service: AMSEAS Beach Clean Up
Event: Hope House: Serving Lunch at Emergency Shelter
Time: 10 am to 1 pm (Arrive at Hope House at 10 am)
Location and Transportation: Pax Christi Hospitality Center in Port Jefferson, LIRR Paid for by Graduate School
Activity: Serving lunch at the Hope House emergency shelter location in Port Jefferson.

Join SBU Wolfiethon
Wolfiethon is a student organization that raises funds and awareness for the Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, which supports families impacted by childhood cancer. Join the team and if you are interested in learning more or being a Team Captain for the Graduate Student Team fundraising effort, please email Giulianna.Vullo@stonybrook.edu from the Center for Service Learning and Community Service.
