Overview
This project delivered a new set of landmark “Stony Brook University” letters adjacent to the Student Union, designed to serve as a visual anchor for major campus moments including tours, orientation, and graduation. The initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the President’s Office under Interim President Richard McCormick and Vice President of Student Life Richard Gatteau, reinforcing University identity while creating a recognizable destination that reflects Stony Brook pride.

Key Highlights

  • Installed large-scale landmark letters to establish a strong sense of place
  • Designed an ADA-compliant pathway to support accessible photo opportunities
  • Integrated a stone wall bench to encourage gathering and informal seating
  • Added new site lighting to highlight the letters at dusk and during evening events
  • Incorporated eco-friendly landscaping aligned with University sustainability initiatives

Impact
