Michelle Whittaker

Michelle Whittaker is a poet and an Associate Professor of creative/expository writing in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. She is the author of the poetry collections Surge, which won a Next Generation Indie Book Award (great weather for Media, 2017), and Spoke the Dark Matter (Sundress Publications, 2024). Her work can be found in The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Shenandoah, Gulf Coast, The Slowdown, Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day series, and other publications. She was awarded a Cave Canem and NYFA fellowship and is currently the poetry editor for The Southampton Review.
