Health Insurance Empire PPO

SUNY offers a NY Smokers' Quit site ( that includes videos, chat groups, stop smoking medication discounts and community support groups. You can also use the New York State Quitline 24/7 at 1-866-NY-Quits. The Empire Plan Prescription Drug Program covers smoking cessation treatments that require a prescription, subject to applicable copayment. Enrollees can visit (using access code Empire on the homepage), and you will have access to educational and supportive articles, as well as resources to help you quit smoking.



HIP offers a Tobacco-Free PATH program, which offers the Quit for Life Program. This program provides members 18 years of age or older to join with the following services:

  • Help in developing a quit plan by phone from trained quit-smoking experts
  • 24/7 phone support
  • Educational materials by mail
  • Access to the Quit For Life website at
  • Full coverage for smoking cessation medication, including the nicotine patch, gum and lozenge, bupropion (generic Zyban) and Chantix


Empire HMO

Empire HMO offers members access to the 360 Degree Health Program, which provides members with educational materials and support with Tobacco Cessation. There are discounts and special offers for wellness products, nicotine replacement therapy, acupuncturists and more.

Full coverage for smoking cessation medication subject to $50 copay for a 30-day supply


Health Care Spending Account

The Health Care Spending Account (HCSAccount) is an employee benefit that helps RF employees pay for health related expenses with tax-free dollars. This includes the cost of smoking cessation programs and prescription drugs that are not reimbursed by your insurance or other benefit plans (over the counter smoking cessation drugs may require prescription). 1-800-358-7202

SUNY Perks at Work / Healthier U

As a SUNY employee, you may register at the SUNY Perks at Work website and access the Healthier U wellness channel.  This site offers information, tools and other resources to help you quit smoking.  The site links to
