Consult Assess Respond Educate (CARE Team)

The CARE Team is a university-based, multidisciplinary team committed to  maintaining a safe and secure working and learning environment for Stony Brook University students and our campus community.  The CARE Team addresses student behavior that may pose a threat to health and safety or disrupts University activity. The CARE Team responds to reports of these concerns through an individualized, coordinated, and thoughtful process that is intended to gather relevant information and intervene when appropriate.

To report an incident, call:

Phone: (631) 632-2273 (2-CARE)

Email: care@stonybrook.edu

Please note that the reports are reviewed Monday through Friday 9am-5pm, excluding holidays.

Remember:

If you are concerned about a student’s behavior it is likely that others are too, so take action.

Reports that describes behaviors in specific terms (head banging, talking to self) are more helpful than reports that include subjective opinions (acting weird or strange).

CARE Team serves as a centralized repository of reports regarding students of concern and can  efficiently intervene in cases of recurring concern.
