Biography:

In Mateo's time at Stony Brook they plan on studying Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems. In Mateo's free time they like to workout, play board games, write, and play music.

Leading the Future:

“I see myself strengthening the structure and efficiency of mechatronics and autonomous systems.”

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

"I chose this because it aligned with everything I wanted. A PHD pathway for engineering, something I’ve always wanted, was an opportunity I couldn’t resist. Additionally, the community I found within the program truly differentiated this from any other scholarship opportunity. I couldn’t imagine my college experience without this community I’ve now found."

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

"Do it! If you’re choosing between different STEM scholarship opportunities and this one, I promise you that you won’t find one with a stronger and more welcoming community than this one."
