Biography:

In Fadima's time at Stony Brook, she plans on studying broadly cardiovascular systems and diseases, public health, ethnopharmacology and the neuroscience of aging. In Fadima's free time, she enjoys reading about global cultures and literature from around the world, as well as watching international film and cinema. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Fadima participated in IYRC's Medicine and Research Summer Program and conducted her IB Biology Extended Essay on the antimicrobial properties of citrus honeys.

Leading the Future:

"I hope to pursue a medical and research career that combats inequities and empowers underrepresented groups to take control of their realities."

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

"The community and family aspect is what drew me to the program. You can tell that the Simons' team truly cares about each and every scholar and about helping them to reach their dreams, goals, and aspirations."

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

"Go for it! This is a great program that not only wishes to cultivate future STEM leaders but also genuinely good individuals who will contribute positively to their communities."
