8/7/26 - Afrinash Ahamad's Defense is on Friday, August 7th at 10am in Health Science Center LH3.  The seminar is titled, "Activity-Dependent Lipid Droplet Accumulation in Neurons During Aging".  Shaoyu Ge is the advisor.

8/6/26 - Kimberly Nnah's Defense is on Thursday, August 6th at 9am in Basic Sciences Tower 8-180.  The seminar is titled, "Disrupting the Gut-Brain Immunological Axis:  Epithelial IL-17RA Deletion Mitigates Stress-Induced Inflammation and Depressive Phenotypes".  Stella Tsirka is the advisor.

7/9/26 - Applications are open for this year's BRITE postdoctoral seminar series!

The goal of BRITE is to enhance excellence and inclusion in neuroscience research by recognizing the achievements of talented postdoctoral fellows and providing an opportunity to foster their professional development. Three outstanding applicants will be selected to give a seminar for the Neuroscience community at Stony Brook University in the Fall semester of 2026 (honorarium and coverage for travel arrangements and expenses included). Awardees will be selected based on their scientific accomplishments and potential in all fields of neuroscience, and commitment to community, diversity, and inclusion in science.

5/12/26 - Lu Chen's Defense is on Tuesday, May 12th at 3pm in LSB 038.  The seminar is titled, "Tail Striatal Neurovascular Coupling in Auditory Learning".  Qiaojie Xiong is the advisor.

3/31/26 - Erin Sipple's Defense is on Tuesday March 31st at 3pm in LSB 038.  The seminar is titled, "Endocannabinoid Modulation of T-type Calcium Channels to Treat Chronic Neuropathic Pain Following Spinal Cord Injury". Michelino Puopolo is the advisor.

3/27/26 - Irene Nozal Martin's Defense is on Friday March 27th at 10am in LSB 038. The seminar is titled, "A Novel Tool to Study 3D Facial Movements Reveals Physiological Processes in Mice". Helen Hou is the advisor.

SAVE THE DATE!  This year's Mind Brain Lecture will be held on Monay March 30th at 4pm.  Dr. James J. DiCarlo from MIT will be deliving the talk, "AI-derived Mechanisms of Human Vision".
