Michael West Appointed FSA Director of Campus Dining
As Executive Director of the Faculty Student Association (FSA), it is with great pleasure that I announce a new hire to our team, Michael West as the FSA Director of Campus Dining effective December 5, 2016.
In this new role, Michael will be responsible for understanding and advocating the issues of the diverse campus communities as they relate to Main Campus Dining Services and for maintaining an atmosphere of positive student satisfaction. He will assess and monitor the effectiveness of dining operations in accordance with the vendor contract, FSA, and Stony Brook University to ensure that the execution of strategic operational plans translates to a dining program that provides an outstanding customer experience.
Michael is very familiar with Stony Brook; just prior to this new appointment he was Director of Food and Retail Services and Concierge Operations at Stony Brook University Hospital managing patient, guest, visitor, employee and student food service. In January 2016, he spearheaded healthy menu changes that resulted in a first place ranking by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. His professional background includes food service operations, customer service, quality assurance, financial management, and direct oversight of information technology and human resources. In addition to his experience at Stony Brook, Michael has an extensive background in the hospitality industry which includes management positions at Panera Bread, Legal Seafoods and restaurants in the Boston area.
I am confident that Michael will bring positive changes to the dining program which include providing more healthy menu options, greater variety, better value and delivering the freshness and high quality standards that our campus community deserves.
