Visiting Campus

Getting to Stony Brook is easy, either by car, bus or train. And parking for CommUniversity Day is free!

• Directions

  By Car

  From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left. To find the campus via GPS, enter the address "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."

  By Bus

  Call (631) 852-5200, or visit the Suffolk County Transit website for schedules, rates, and routes for public bus service between campus and off-campus locations.

  By Train

  Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook. The LIRR station is at the north end of the campus; bus service to the central campus is provided. Trains to and from Penn generally require transfers at Jamaica or Huntington. Hicksville is also a transfer point on some lines.

• Parking

  Parking is free at all University parking lots for CommUniversity Day except for the LaValle Stadium lot which will be closed to those without parking passes.

  The nearest parking areas to the Academic Mall are the Administration parking garage and the lot behind Earth and Space Sciences

• Restrooms

  Restrooms are available in the Humanities Building, the Charles B. Wang Center, the Frank Melville Library, Frey Hall, Harriman and the Student Activities Center. In addition, portable restrooms will be located near the Student Activities Center.

  The restrooms are identified on the CommUniversity Day map. Gender neutral and handicap accessible restrooms are available and are indicated as well.

• Disability Accommodations
