Required Documents
Transcript with Degree Conferral
Official/Unofficial
Unofficial transcripts with degree conferral are sufficient for an admissions decision. If your transcript does not explicitly state that a degree has been conferred, then you must also submit a diploma or certification of degree awarded.
Final, official documents are required for enrollment and must be sent directly from the college/university or evaluation agency via an approved transcript delivery service to gradadmissions@stonybrook.edu or by mail. If necessary, final official documents may be hand-delivered upon your arrival.
International Coursework
Applicants with international coursework must submit original documents in their native language as well as an official English translation by an authorized agency (see atanet.org or naces.org), an SBU faculty member, or the institution issuing the degree. Some degrees from international institutions may require a credential evaluation through one of SBU's approved NACES members for US equivalency.
Optional for 2025 Admission
GRE scores are optional. If you are sending them, you should request that Educational Testing Service forward scores (Stony Brook code: 2548, Department code: 1102).
