Fracture and Creep at Elevated Temperatures (FACET) Lab

The FACET labs primary mission is to carry out high-heat-flux, creep, and fracture on established and developmental materials.  In addition to a suite of vacuum and inert-atmosphere frames for ASME-quality creep data, this lab serves as a beta-test site for the ASI ultra-high-temperature test system.  This capability allows ASME-compliant bend and fracture to temperatures in excess of 2000°C.

Additionally, FACET contains a unique laser-based high-heat-flux facility capable of testing coupons at continuous heat loads in excess of 5 MW/m2 with a second, pulsed laser capable of overlaying an addition 5 MW/m2.
