History
The Advanced Combustion & Energy Systems (ACES) Laboratory at Stony Brook University was founded in 2020 under the directorship of Prof. Assanis. It is an evolution of the former Engine Combustion Research Group that was originally established in 2014 to conduct fundamental and applied research on spark-ignition, diesel, and advanced combustion engines. The ACES laboratory has expanded and adapted to address the modern energy and emissions challenges we face. The ACES laboratory has office space, access to the high-performance computing clusters of the Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), and a laboratory facility located at the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC).
