Professor Friedman's research focused on the microscopic interpretation of the thermodynamic, structural and dynamical properties of solutions, especially aqueous ionic solutions. He also applied new methodologies of statistical mechanics to accurately account for the influence of the medium on the rate of electron transfer reactions in solution.
