Professor Grey explored the structure and function of solid state materials with NMR, X-ray and neutron diffraction, and electron microscopy, with a focus on novel materials for fuel cells, batteries, and supercapacitors. She was instrumental in raising the national profile of energy research at Stony Brook and served as Director of the Northeastern Center for Chemical Energy Storage, a DOE Energy Frontier Research Center.
