Professor Wishnia studied the structures and behavior of macromolecules and systems. For example, he used stopped-flow, pressure-jump light-scattering and/or fluorescence to study processes related to initiation of protein synthesis. He investigated vesicle surfaces by detecting their interaction with lanthanide cations using 31P NMR spectroscopy and fluorescence lifetime studies. He was a pioneer in the use of laser-polarized 129Xe in magnetic resonance imaging of b
