About the survey

University & Medicine Community Relations will be launching the first-ever Community Engagement & Partnership Survey this fall to all employees and students of Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine to get a better understanding of the true scope of Seawolves Country, create additional opportunities for cross-campus collaboration, and highlight stellar initiatives in a future Community Impact Report.

The survey is now closed.

Who should complete the survey?

All Stony Brook University & Stony Brook Medicine employees and students are encouraged to complete the survey! It doesn't matter if you work in a Stony Brook Medicine office on the East End or on the 4th floor of the Melville Library - we want to hear from ALL Seawolves.

Questions?

Not sure if you should add your initiative? No problem - we are happy to help! Email us at communityrelations@stonybrook.edu.

What is a community engagement initiative?

We understand that so many Seawolves are engaged in community engagement initiatives. For this survey, we define an initiative as "Community Engagement" or "Community Partnership" if the following criteria are satisfied:

The audience is external - The initiative's primary beneficiaries are not Stony Brook employees or students.

The work is ongoing - Ongoing collaborations must be demonstrated.

There is measurable impact - Data that highlights the impact and external community benefit can be provided.

Initiative Examples:

Established in 2010, the Seawolf Excel Program partners with three Suffolk County School Districts and a local college readiness non-profit to offer high school sophomores a 10-week, on-campus workshop series about careers in STEM. The initiative includes a sponsorship of the non-profit organization's annual conference, which is attended by more than 300 community leaders and educators.

For the past year,  the School of Medicine's Future Medical Leaders Chapter has partnered with a retirement community to provide monthly health education lectures and workshops focused on healthy aging.

You may complete the survey multiple times if sharing information about several distinct initiatives.
