• Policy Briefs: We update the Stony Brook community weekly about policy and other news that directly affects funding. Sign up for the OPD newsletter via the instructions on this page to receive these briefs. 
• Landscape Monitoring and Analysis: We monitor and analyze federal, state, and other sponsor priorities and policies to help researchers understand how to position their work and anticipate upcoming opportunities. We also serve as a resource across the university for understanding policy and developing institutional strategy.
• Asset Mapping: We help Stony Brook understand its capacity and relevant assets for pursuing current and future funding opportunities to enable strategic planning.
• Institutional Positioning: Our office coordinates and develops institutional responses to strategically important Requests for Information and similar documents that require stakeholder input from across the university.
• Research & Education Partnership Building: We assist researchers in developing the strategic partnerships that are critical for successful large-scale or institutionally strategic external proposals. We help researchers connect with potential collaborators and stakeholders and leverage team-science principles to develop the alignment that is critical to effective partnerships and competitive proposals.
