Campus Operations & Maintenance (COM)
Overview
During Summer 2025, Campus Operations and Maintenance completed seven major ADA-focused
exterior improvement projects across the Academic Mall. These projects addressed long-standing
accessibility issues by repairing and replacing non-compliant walkways, plazas, and
pathways—creating safer, smoother, and more visually appealing pedestrian areas.
Key Highlights
- Replaced damaged, displaced, and uneven concrete and asphalt surfaces
- Corrected improper slopes to meet ADA accessibility standards
- Removed and replaced non-compliant pavers throughout the Academic Mall
- Enhanced overall campus appearance with new, uniform surfacing
- Improved accessibility and safety for all campus pedestrians
Impact
Faculty, students, and staff now benefit from safer, cleaner, and more accessible
campus pathways. These improvements particularly support members of the disabled community,
while enhancing the overall aesthetic and usability of the Academic Mall.
