RhetComp is open to all Stony Brook students interested in writing any genre. RhetComp promotes student expression by developing a sense of camaraderie among both Writing
minors and students who enjoy writing, providing an open and positive environment
for peer review and critique, and serving as a platform for Stony Brook University
students to promote their own writing.
June 8, 2026 was the inaugural Retreat onHealth, the Humanities, and the Environment, sponsored by the Office of the Provost; Stony Brook Medicine; the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics; the School of Nursing; and the Office of Health Equity and Climate Medicine Research. Dr. Stephanie Wade gave a presentation on her ongoing work on community gardening, ecological justice, and material rhetorics.
