Summer in Ecuador 2014

La Poderosa Media Project is a nonprofit community arts program, new to Stony Brook University, that will be taking its first class of students to Latin America this summer. The program has two interrelated goals:  1) to teach Spanish language and Latin American culture in a community-based immersion class, while 2) working with local Latin American students toward the creation of short films. Students interested in community engagement, film, the arts, media studies, cultural studies, journalism, activism, among other fields are encouraged to apply. Film experience is not needed, though intermediate Spanish language ability is.

Professor Joseph M. Pierce will be coordinating the program this year for Stony Brook students who may receive credit for their participation. He can be reached at:joseph.pierce@stonybrook.edu
