Taylor Apter (BS, 2016)

Taylor Apter is a 2016 alum who earned degrees in Marine Vertabrate Biology and Environmental Studies and went on to earn a Master's degree in Marine Sciences from Nova Southeastern University.
Taylor now serves as a Management and Program Analyst, advising executive leadership at NOAA's National Ocean Service. She specializes in translating complex marine and conservation science into actionable policies and strategic outcomes. Her background spans federal and state agencies, where she’s routed multi-million-dollar conservation contracts, coordinated stakeholder engagement, and driven initiatives in invasive species management, ocean governance, and environmental justice.
With a strong foundation in environmental law, stakeholder engagement, and cross-agency collaboration, she’s committed to advancing practical, equitable solutions that bridge science, policy, and community needs.
She connected with the Stony Brook chapter of the Society of Women in Marine Science in 2025 to share her experiences with other SoMAS students.
