Resolution Authorizing the Naming of the onsemi Silicon Carbide Crystal Growth Center 

WHEREAS The Semiconductor Components Industries, LLC dba "onsemi" and The Research Foundation for The State University of New York have a mutual interest in promoting semiconductor research and development initiatives; 

WHEREAS Stony Brook University's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences wishes to establish a semiconductor research center to focus on silicon carbide crystal growth in order to conduct interdisciplinary research in the emerging critical technologies of crystal growth and foster new enterprise development; 

WHEREAS onsemi has generously contributed $8,000,000 to The Research Foundation for The State University of New York to establish the onsemi Silicon Carbide Crystal Growth Center lab at Stony Brook University. 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE STONY BROOK COUNCIL 

The Stony Brook Local Council authorizes Chair, Kevin Law, to transmit this resolution to the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York.
