Stony Brook Children’s Hospital Surgeons and Parents Discuss 1st Known Case-of-its-Kind of Triplets All Born With Rare Skull Condition; Babies Make 1st Public Appearance With Special Helmets

Six-month-old triplets, two identical and one fraternal, all born with a rare skull condition known as craniosynostosis, will make their first public appearance with their parents as well as the doctors at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital who performed what is believed to be the  first-ever reported surgery on triplets with craniosynostosis.  The press event will include:  

  • Surgical team reuniting with parents and triplets, and discussing operation
  • Pre- and post-operation photos of each baby
  • 3D reconstructive CT Scan images of each baby
  • The triplets wearing their custom-fit helmets, which they wear 23 hours a day/7 days a week, to help guide and mold the shape of their skulls as they grow.
