Star-Studded Astronomy Extravaganza at Stony Brook University on April 28
Free, fun and educational event for families, students and stargazers to observe celestial bodies not visible to the naked eye.

The Seventh Annual AstroFest is a yearly celebration hosted by the Stony Brook University Astronomy Club. This special educational event is geared toward families, students and amateur astronomers and will feature interactive astronomy and physics demonstrations, guided tours of the campus-scale model of the solar system, and the opportunity to observe celestial bodies not visible to the naked eye using the University’s state-of-the-art telescopes; including a high power 14" roof top telescope and solar telescopes . Visitors will be able to view the planet Jupiter and its four largest moons, the Great Cluster in Hercules, globular cluster M13 and Earth’s moon and Sun in great detail. In addition, there will be games, free raffles, prizes and refreshments. AstroFest is one of the largest astronomy events on Long Island and has had annually attendance in the hundreds since 2011.

Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) to Exit 62. North on Nicolls Road (Route 97) 9 miles.
Cross over Route 347. Continue past the South and Main entrances to the University. Enter the North entrance, on left. At the top of the small hill, turn right on Circle Road. Proceed about 1 mile. Turn left onto Campus Drive and then immediately turn left again onto John S. Toll Drive. Proceed about 50 yards and turn right into the large paved parking lot.
The Earth and Space Sciences building is the large concrete building at the northeast end of the parking lot. To find Stony Brook University via GPS, enter address: "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."
