Bio:
As an Associate Professor of Practice and the Manager of Instructional Laboratories
at Stony Brook University, Dr. Machtay oversees all Department of Mechanical Engineering
instructional laboratories. Dr. Machtay holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical
Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering
from Stony Brook University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering
also from Stony Brook University. Dr. Machtay has been a member of the Society of
Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 2001, serves as the SAE Collegiate Chapter Faculty
Advisor for Stony Brook University, and is the senior advisor to the Stony Brook Motorsports
program. He is also a member of the Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi honor societies.
Dr. Machtay has developed and taught courses in system dynamics and control, finite
element method, electronics, manufacturing, and mechatronics, and runs the Rockwell
Automation Anorad Mechatronics and Manufacturing Automation Laboratories within the
Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University
