Bio: 

Leana Grotz is The Space Manager for the MACH 1 Innovation Hub in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Stony Brook University. She oversees CEAS makerspace and creates opportunities for hands-on learning, rapid prototyping, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

A two-time Stony Brook graduate, Leana earned both her Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the university and is a WISE alumna. 

Leana manages the day-to-day operations of The Space while co-teaching both machining, MEC 225, and professional development courses for mechanical engineering students, MEC 300. She is passionate about equipping students with practical skills, fostering innovation through experiential learning, and connecting classroom concepts with real-world engineering applications.

Her work centers on expanding access to advanced manufacturing technologies, strengthening industry-relevant training, and building a collaborative environment where students can design, create, and innovate with confidence.
