Research Interests and History

Austin is an Instructional Support Specialist at in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Stony Brook University. Austin holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering both from Stony Brook University. He is currently working towards a Doctorate of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering. Austin has been a member of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) since 2017, a member of the American Society for Composites (ASC) since 2020, and is a member of the Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Austin's research emphasis is on the application of experimental mechanics techniques to stress analysis, and fracture of engineering and biological materials. Austin additionally works on the development of optical and other experimental mechanics techniques.
