Olanrewaju Samuel leads award-winning paper

The paper led by PhD student Olanrewaju Samuel titled "7PERFECTION: Community Based Development of Commonsense Dataset for Seven Nigerian languages" was awarded one of the Best Shared Task Contribution Awards by the awards committee of EMNLP 2025 (the 2025 meeting of Empiricial Methods in Natural Language Processing). At the awards ceremony, the paper was cited as follows: "This dataset was written manually and the examples cover specific linguistic structures, and topics include food, culture, education, and technology. This dataset was created through the collaboration of a grassroots community of linguists focusing on African languages, called Linguistics Island. This represents a great example of collaborative dataset creation."
