My name is Yiyi (pronounced "e. e.") and this fall, I will be a sophomore at Harvard University concentrating (otherwise known as "majoring") in Physics and Chemistry. Continuing along the lines of optical confinement (my previous research included work in guided wave optics and optical tweezers), I plan to design and buiild a magneto-optical trap this summer, in hopes of materializing a Bose Einstein Condensate before I graduate. [Note: the apparatus in the picture below is barely a quarter of the setup necessary for producing a BEC!]

Professionally, I hope to become a professor of physics and become involved with NASA's pending missions.

My passions (besides atom optics!) include fencing and chamber music. I admire the great fencers, violinists and physicists of the world for their incredible discipline, unparalleled logic and (most of all,) creativity.
