My name is Dorothy Konomos, and I am a freshman at Stony Brook University. I attended Comsewogue High School, which is located fifteen minutes away from Stony Brook. Throughout elementary school and junior high, I realized that I really liked science and math. My sophomore year in high school, I joined the high school section of WISE, where I had some hands on experience with technology, optics and other scientific fields. These experiences, combined with the amazing opportunities Stony Brook has to offer, helped me decide that where I wanted to pursue my higher education. As a college student, I am also enrolled in the WISE program here at Stony Brook.

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a doctor. I am currently pursuing a Biochemistry major on a pre-med track. I am also considering taking Spanish as a minor, but nothing is set in stone yet. Hopefully through the experiences I gain through WISE and researching, I will be able to decide what field of medicine I want to be involved in.
