Hi! I'm Kristin Regan. I am originally from Maspeth, New York,
which is a small town close to the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
I attended Martin Luther High School where I participated in many
outside activities besides school.

During my high school years, I played competitive volleyball for
Excel and for my high school and it quickly became my favorite sport
of all time. Along with volleyball I played softball and competed in
various tournaments throughout the east coast. My interests also
included music, specifically the piano and flute. Through playing
the piano and flute I slowly learned to love classical music and
to appreciate other forms of music as well.

In my junior year, I was able to do research at Stony Brook with
Professor Carlos Simmerling after winning a Simons Summer Research
Fellowship. I not only learned the ups and downs of research, but
was able to obtain a taste for what college life entailed.
Professor Simmerling stimulated my interest in the study of
anti-cancer drugs and the field of oncology and helped me to learn
more about computers and computer simulation. I was able to work
with graduate students and undergraduate students who have decided
to make research part of their lives and from them I was able to see
first hand how it was to truly do research.

In college, I am currently on the crew team and have taken an
interest in bio-medical engineering. I also hope to have a minor
in English.
