Measurements and Results


The first successful results with the new apparatus were obtained with a suspension of tiny latex spheres of the type also used initially by Hielscher etal [1].

A 200 ml sample of 0.05% by volume latex (polystyrene) spheres 0.195 um in diameter was created by diluting 1 ml of concentrated (10% by volume) suspension in 200 ml of deionized water. The concentrate was kindly donated by the Duke Scientific Corporation [15].

Using the guidelines explained by Yao etal [14], 16 images were acquired and combined in the following manner,
