The REU students attended a talk by Dr. Metcalf today. He talked about laser cooling and the general idea behind it. I wish I could listen to him do a lecture about it and go through all the complicated derivations he mentioned. It all tied in with Dr. Schneble's talk very well. Dr. Metcalf agreed to let us tour his lab, too, at some point this week. It'd be nice to see all the things I keep hearing about in his group meetings.
