This past week I did some reading about x-ray powder diffraction.

November 13, 2000

This past week I continued reading about x-ray powder diffraction. My project will be to characterize a detector used in diffraction experiments. This week I will meet with the person who designed the detector and begin work.

November 20, 2000

This past week I went to Brookhaven, worked on improving the shielding for the detector, and obtained some data to check the linearity of the detector.

December 4, 2000

We have taken data to check the linearity of the detector. I'm currently learning how to use Origin to analyze the data.
